Multi-Generational
There are many different "generations" of labradoodles. Multi-generational simply ensures that the lineage of the puppy's bloodline has gone back so far, that it is indeed, hypoallergenic. When originally breeding labradoodles, breeders wanted the fun-loving, family-oriented personality of a labrador retriever, but the intelligence, loyalty and non-shedding component of a poodle - hence the creation of a labradoodle. In order to ensure the type of hair puppies would have, a certain amount of generations must be crossed so that the non-shedding gene of the poodle is dominant. Here is the breakdown:

F1: Labrador Retriever x Poodle. Typically these Labradoodles have hair coats (straight hair that sheds) and there is inconsistency in appearance and coats within a litter (50% lab 50% poodle).

F1b: F1 Labradoodle x Poodle. The coat can be hair, fleece or possibly wool. These Labradoodles have a wide variation in appearance and coats, even within the same litter (25% lab 75% poodle).

F2: F1b Labradoodle (25% lab 75% poodle) x F1b Labradoodle (25% lab 75% poodle). These Labradoodles typically have straight or loose curl fleece coats and are generally well tolerated by persons with general allergies and/or dog allergies. The puppies within a litter are more uniform in appearance and coats.

F2b: is an F2 Labradoodle x Poodle. These Labradoodles typically have loose curl or very curly fleece or wool coats and are generally well tolerated by persons with general allergies and/or dog allergies. The puppies within a litter are more uniform in appearance and coats (12.5% lab 87.5% poodle)

Multigenerational Labradoodle (Multigen): F2b Labradoodle x F2b Labradoodle. This covers the F2, F3, F4 and higher generations. With higher generation parents, the more uniform the puppies within a litter.

Brooks labradoodles are multi-generational.
